A walk in Stanley Park

We decided to have a walk in Stanley Park since it was such a nice day. After walking for a bit and looking at the cricket matches we went to the Aquarium for a look at baby beluga and the sea otters and then home. After his nap Bentley was full of energy and helped daddy in the yard and washing the car. It feels like time to get back into the groove and tidy up after the summer. However, there are still some blooms of summer that give us hope that we'll have an Indian summer. So far so good!

Bentley's 1st Swimming Lesson!

Bentley did really well this morning. He was a little nervous but since this was the first time he has done anything like that without mommy he did well. The water was warm and its such a nice pool that he couldn't help but like it. He's the youngest in the class so he was a little more timid and did hold on to Trevor - the instructor's neck a few times! But he'll be back on Thursday and hopefully Ethan will be over his cold so I can take him in the pool at the same time as the lesson.

A 'day' or rather a morning by Rice Lake

We have a new book with 52 day trips to do around Vancouver so today we decided to try on out. We went to the north shore for a walk out to Rice Lake. Its near a water shed and there are great trails all through the area. We stopped and watched the people fishing in the lake. The lake is stocked with 5000 rainbow trout yearly and they have built a great dock and walkway to use for fishing or watching them and enjoying a snack! It was very hot so we were glad to walk through the forest and then stay in the shade at the lake. Ethan even walked half way back - holding both of our hands but its still progress.

A visit from our Irish friends

The boys had a great time getting to know an Irish family visiting Vancouver. I knew Rebecca in London before she was married to Jason and had 3 children! We had a great time at the Aquarium together and then they and Jolanna Cunningham came back for dinner. Lots of laughs and finished with some singing. Angharad dropped by for dessert as well so it was nice to catch up and for her to meet some others from her side of the world.

Bentley was happy to play the violin and Joel accompanied him on drums. Of course Ethan had to get involved so he provided some dancing and additional vocals to Ole Macdonald!
